Privacy Policy
Last updated: 8 June 2026
IndianTimeline is a free, independent reference site that brings together clear, sourced information about India, its states and various topics. We care about your privacy and have built the site to need as little of your information as possible. This page explains our simple approach.
The short version
- You can read everything without signing up, logging in or sharing any personal details.
- We do not collect personal information from visitors, and the site has no user accounts.
- We do not sell, rent or share your data, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking.
Browsing the site
IndianTimeline is purely informational. You do not need to register, log in or provide any personal details to read any page. We don’t ask for your name, email or any other personal information to use the site.
Information collected automatically
Like virtually every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — such as the IP address, browser type and the pages requested — for a short time to keep the site secure and running. This technical data is not used to identify you personally.
Cookies
We do not use cookies for advertising or to track you across other websites. WordPress, the software that runs this site, may set a small number of functional cookies that help the pages work. You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time, and the site will still work.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics (and tools such as Google Search Console) to understand which pages are useful and how people find the site. This information is anonymous and is not used to identify individual visitors.
If you contact us
If you choose to email us — for example, to suggest a topic or report a correction — we use your message only to reply to you and to improve the accuracy of the site. We don’t add you to any mailing list and we don’t share your message, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Links to other websites
Our pages link out to original sources — such as the RBI, government ministries, the World Bank and the IMF. Those websites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
Accuracy of the information
We compile the facts and figures on IndianTimeline from many different trusted sources — government bodies, official statistics and reputable non-government organisations — and we update our pages as new data is released. Because the data comes from several sources and changes over time, occasional errors, gaps or out-of-date figures are possible. IndianTimeline is an independent reference, not an official record, so please verify anything important against the original source. If you spot a mistake, please report an issue or email us, and we will review and correct it.
Children’s privacy
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect any information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally as the site evolves. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
